Twelve years ago, my younger daughter fell in love with cats, and she started to long for having one. We have lived in the apartment house that time, so we have tried to talk her out of that idea. We bought some cuddly cat toys, but it didn´t help at all. Finally we promised her to buy a kitten if she would have all A on the school report. We foolishly thought that the thing was over. It wasn´t - that year (she attended 4th class), my daughter recieved school report with A´s. We decided for British shorthair kitten of blue color, but it wasn´t anything easy that time, to find one. We responded to many advertisments, but we never succeeded. Either the kitten didn´t have a pedigree, or it was blue with cream spots, eventually all kittens were already reserved. After a few months we went to the cat show in Kladno. There we discovered three-months old blue kitten. Another problem has occured - we have already booked a term for summer holiday at the seaside, and we didn´t want the kitten to stay with someone else for petsitting. So we came to an agreement with the breeder, that we would take the kitten at the end of august. So in august 1996, we bought our first cat. Her name is Adriena Pretty Gift, but we call her Pelinka.

As the time passed by, all members of my family came to be the real cat - lovers. In order to Pelinka not being alone, we planned to keep on of her kittens. Unfortunatelly, all kittens from the first litter were males. In the second one, it was close - only one female and two males. We gave her the name Quonocoto, but we call her Niki. It was the only female, born to Pelinka. The others were always males. So we had two cats from that time on.

In last Pelinka´s litter there were two kittens, but one died immediately after delivery. The other one - a blue cat male was coddled accordingly, so there couln´t happen anything else but keeping him home. His name is Robinson, but we call him Mindacek.

Three years ago it started to seem to us, that there was too much blue in our home. We tried to get our cats stud with the cat male of different color, but mysteriously it has never been successful. So we decided to get a cat of other color elsewhere. I started to read the advertisments once again. I found a kitten at the May Blobs.CZ, the cattery at the village Stary Parezov near Domazlice. I went there with my family, and we brought back the red spotted british cat female. Her name is Maya via May Blobs.CZ, and we call her Karkulka (after the fairy tale of Little red riding hood). So another member joined our pack of cats.

In the year 2006, Karkulka gave birth to seven kittens, but from still not known reason, only two of them survived. Ungoliant, the tortoise cat female, we weren´t able to sell for a long time. And when she stayed with us during the Christmas holiday, we decided quit trying and we kept her.

By the beginning of the year 2008 we started to think about enlarging the Schamway cattery in different way - we decided to start breeding another cat race. After some time we have chosen egyptian mau. To find someone willing to sell the kitten for breeding was quite a hard case to crack, but finally we suceeded in Great Britain at the Jacawaca cattery, that belongs to mrs. Folland. After a few months of exchamging emails and after setting all things about the transportation of the cat, we finally have Meritamon at home.

In the year 2009 we started to think about getting the egyptian mau cat male. It is said that "life is just a coincidence", the 7th member of our cat family really appeared! But it was not the cat male. It was a one year old egyptian mau female - her family have had to give the cat away for serious reasons It is beautiful light silver female named Nala. She originaly comes from Holland.

We didnt abandon the dream about the mau stud, though. We have searched through the internet, we have written dozens of emails to various catteries from all around the world. Finall we got answer from well-known cattery in US and after half a year of exchanging letters and emails, we received beautiful cat male.

My husband says that eight is the final number. That it wont change, or at least not any soon. But because we already know how things change....we never say never :-)
